City of Richardson Launches New Vodcast Series - "What's Going On?"

May 7, 2024

The City of Richardson has launched a new vodcast series designed to provide an in-depth perspective of current events and topics in its economic development efforts. Dubbed “What’s Going On?”, the premier episode launched this week featuring an interview with Richardson City Manager Don Magner, who discussed:

  • Commercial real estate, its 60% impact on our tax base, and our three-tiered strategy to “reinvent” local office space via intentional redevelopment, enhanced amenities, and support for tenant improvements.
  • Being “open for business” via ready access to City leadership, spending the quality time needed to understand the nuances of each economic development project, and by working to reduce obstacles to success.
  • Upcoming projects, including a headquarters relocation, growth in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, and redevelopment of the Promenade North shopping center.

“What’s Going On?” can be found on the Richardson Economic Development Department LinkedIn and Facebook channels, the Richardson IQ LinkedIn and Facebook channels, and here on RichardsonEconomicDevelopment.com:

“This new series is designed to provide an expanded opportunity for people to learn about Richardson’s economic development efforts,” said Richardson Communications Director Greg Sowell. “Our goal is to feature engaging conversations on top topics and economic development projects, to offer a different perspective on the city’s progress. It should be of interest to business owners, investors, and anyone curious about Richardson’s economic activity.”

“What’s Going On?” was created, in part, to tap into success many cities are having with the inclusion of similar material. The Pew Research Center recently found that 49% of adults in the United States have listened to a podcast in the past 12 months, and the statistics have steadily increased over the past decade with listeners most often turning to podcases for learning (88%).
