Developer KDC said Wednesday that it will build two more data center projects in Richardson.

The facilities will total 244,000-square-feet and are in Digital Realty's data center campus on Collins Boulevard.

"Our continued growth in this area reflects increasing customer demand," Digital Realty senior vice president Dave Caron said in a statement.

Both new Richardson facilities will be ready by the end of the year.

KDC recently completed a 112,000-square-foot data center in the park 1215 Datacenter Park Boulevard.

Digital Realty in 2009 bought the former Alcatel campus, a 70-acre property that includes seven buildings with a total of 800,000 square feet. The buildings are being converted to data center use.

KDC and Digital Realty formed an alliance in December 2009 to develop data center projects.

So far, KDC and Digital Realty have done seven data centers in Richardson, Virginia, Austin and San Antonio.

Richardson's Telecom Corridor has recently seen an increase in development of data center buildings designed to house equipment and operations for high-tech and telecommunications firms.

Dallas’ Stream Realty Partners this summer finished construction on a new data center just south of State Highway 190 in Richardson. It’s the second such project Stream has built in the area.
