State Farm Insurance plans to begin moving the first employees into its massive Richardson hub this Thursday, which will be the first step in a larger relocation that will bring up to 8,000 employees into the North Texas city.

The moving process is expected to occur in stages over the coming weeks and months, depending on department schedules, said Gary Stephenson, a State Farm spokesman.

"Our focus is on getting our employees into their new surroundings in as smooth a manner as possible, and on keeping our focus on serving our customers as we settle into the new surroundings," Stephenson said.

The move into the first completed tower at the CityLine development is expected to occur in several stages, with two more buildings expected to be complete for employees by the end of the year and a fourth building expected to be finished in 2016. In total, Bloomington, Illinois-based State Farm will occupy roughly 2 million square feet of office space in Richardson.

Richardson has the largest amount of new office space under construction in North Texas, in part because of State Farm's massive regional hub.
