An official with Bloomington, Ill.-based State Farm Insurance said today the company plans to hire 140 workers to fill newly created jobs at its new Richardson office at 1011 Galatyn Pkwy.
The jobs will be assistant and entry-level jobs within the insurer's claims and customer service divisions.
"We hope to fill these positions soon," said Patti Kelly, a State Farm spokeswoman. Kelly said the company expects to add more jobs in the future, but declined to specify a hiring time frame.
In December, State Farm Insurance signed the largest office lease in Dallas history for 1.5-million-square-feet of build-to-suit office space with Dallas-based developer KDC, which plans to begin development on the mixed-use project in Richardson within the next few months.
Earlier in the year, State Farm signed lease for 291,469 square feet of office space off Galatyn Parkway in Richardson. The insurance company also signed a lease for a 400,000-square-foot office facility in Las Colinas.
In total, the company signed leases for more than 2 million square feet, fueling speculation that State Farm has big expansion plans in North Texas beyond regional offices.
In a written statement, State Farm spokesman Gary Stephenson said, "These career opportunities are part of our expansion in the Dallas area as we prepare for the future and grow our business."
Interested candidates can apply for jobs that include Initial Loss Reporting Claims Associate (ID#36578) and Express Claims Associate (ID#36579) on
