Safeguard Properties Inc., a company that manages foreclosed homes for mortgage service companies, has made its foray into North Texas, opening a Richardson office with 200 employees.

The Ohio-based company works with local loan servicing companies to national publicly traded mortgage servicing corporations. One of those large institutional players ramping up investment in North Texas' real estate is American Homes 4 Rent.

Safeguard is the first tenant to occupy the newly renovated Greenway II complex at 2400 Lakeside Blvd., leasing the 22,000-square-foot third floor of the building, which formerly housed Blue Cross Blue Shield operations.

Last year, J.P. Realty Partners announced plans to invest $1 million in upgrades to Greenway II after acquiring the property.

This is the company's first expansion into Dallas, which is a major hub for the mortgage servicing industry.

Richardson was selected for the company's office because of the city's proximity to Safeguard's clients, said CEO Alan Jaffa.

The office is scheduled to become operational this week.
