Richardson technology company raises more than $12M in new funding effort June 13, 2019 Report by Brian Womack Staff Writer | Dallas Business Journal A Richardson startup has some more cash after a fresh investment. Theatro raised recently raised $12.1 million, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The equity-based funding is part of a total offering amount of $15.1 million, the filing said. Already, the company has raised more than $20 million, according to Crunchbase. That includes $8.8 million it landed in a round from Silicon Valley’s Khosla Ventures and others in a 2014 deal. Theatro provides what it calls a “workforce communication platform.” Its apps are designed to enable hourly employees to access information quickly with a simple voice command, according to its website. The company uses an artificial-intelligence powered technology to help power its products. The company has accumulated customers that include Cabela’s, Neiman Marcus and The Container Store. The overall industries its serves include hospitality, retail, distribution and casinos and resorts, the company's website said.
