Richardson Brands New Redevelopment Area February 12, 2020 Report Richardson’s newest redevelopment project is another step closer to reality now that it has a name. The 1,200-acres roughly bounded by Campbell, Plano Rd., Greenville Ave and Arapaho, will now be referred to as the Richardson Innovation Quarter, or simply, the IQ. Located in the heart of Richardson’s Telecom Corridor, the area has a long history of being home to innovative companies, and the new moniker reinforces the area’s rich heritage of innovation and entrepreneurship. Led by a chamber task force comprised of key stakeholders including large property owners, the group met for months reviewing various brands and logos before deciding unanimously that the Richardson Innovation Quarter best evokes the district’s deep innovative roots with a sense of what the future holds. “We are one step closer to creating a more vibrant, highly amenitized space to attract start-ups and help companies grow,” said Bill Sproull, president and CEO of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce. “The Richardson Innovation Quarter will be a future economic development driver that forges beneficial partnerships while fueling dynamic job growth and strategic redevelopment. Ultimately, The IQ will sustain the needs of forward-thinking businesses and ensure Richardson’s vibrant future.” The first step in the redevelopment process was completing an extensive rezoning initiative, which was completed and approved by the city council in December. With its new zoning and new name, the building blocks are in place to grow and nurture the businesses that are already in the IQ, and to attract new companies. Back To News and Press Releases
