Campbell/75  - two projects

The former Luby’s Cafeteria has been transformed into a hip new venue for the Austin-based Torchy’s Tacos (to open soon), and one of DFW’s first Tokyo Joe’s has already opened their doors.

Take the first right turn off W. Campbell Road from US 75 and you’ll be on Alamo Dr. where the newly remodeled Campbell Way center is located with its first group of tenants, Mattison Avenue Salon Suites & Spa and Palapas Seafood Restaurant. Palapas has been named one of the Best New Restaurants for 2014 by D Magazine and Best Seafood Bar by the Dallas Observer.

East Campbell/Eastside

Two new Japanese restaurants recently opened – Teriyaki Sensi at 930 E Campbell Rd. and Sushi Zen at Eastside (SE corner of 75/Campbell).

More seafood to Richardson

Fish Shack has gained several Richardson fans since they opened at 1840 N. Plano Rd, south of Campbell in the former Soulman’s BBQ building.

Jupiter/190

Congratulations to developer Doug Huey on his recent purchase of The Shire, Phase I. This center was created by renowned restaurateur Dale Wamstad and is home to these popular restaurants: The Silver Fox Steakhouse, Main Street Bakery & Bistro, Apollonia’s Italian Kitchen, Thai Thumbz Urban Kitchen and Ye Shire Tavern; several business and medical tenants, and Bright Horizons Child Care. Watch for details on plans to enlarge access to this unique center.

E. Renner at North Star

Four new medical and dental service business leases have been executed for the buildings going up along Renner Road between the 7-Eleven and Breckinridge Park Animal Hospital. Joey Keffler with the Weitzman Group is leasing Doug Huey’s last parcel of land at this intersection. The adjacent centers at Breckinridge Corners include a Walgreens, the first Starbucks in Richardson’s ”panhandle," Chase Bank, a fitness center, five restaurants, medical and dental tenants and several nail and hair salons.

Richardson Heights adds three more restaurants

Three new restaurants will be joining the 10 restaurants already at this major center that is home to Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Half Price Books, Skechers and TJ Maxx. Texadelphia, another Austin favorite, comes back to Richardson after an absence of almost eight years. Bangkok City will open soon next to the Japanese favorite, Masami on the Belt Line Rd side of the center, and a new Flavors of Ice Cream has opened next to Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Additional new tenants include an iLovekickboxing.com and Collected Comics and Games next to the Phenix Salons. Richardson Heights now has the most diverse group of restaurants in Richardson! Here’s a complete list: Aboca’s Italian Grill, Addis Abeba Ethiopian Restaurant, Glass Half-Full at Alamo Drafthouse, Haystack Burgers & Barley, Kabobi Fresh Mediterranean, Masami Japanese, Subway, Taco Joint, Tasty Tails Louisiana Seafood, and Udipi Vegetarian Café.

Richardson’s first Food Truck Park

Stop by the new Richardson Food Truck Park at 522 Bishop Ave, just south of Reliable Chevrolet on Bishop Ave at Rayflex Dr. About 20 different food trucks have secured permits so you’ll find at least 3-4 trucks each day. Check their schedule and listing of trucks on their website. The Interurban Bar (same location) has sevn local craft beers, wines and spirits available as well. Hours are Sun-Thurs 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Fri-Sat 11:30 a.m. to 12 a.m

And if that’s not enough to keep you coming to Richardson, the new Free Play Arcade will be opening soon at 1730 E Belt Line near the Dollar Tree and Baskin Robbins! It’s a real ‘blast from the past’ retro arcade with video games and pinball machines that many of us grew up on. They will serve bar food, beer and wine.
