FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RICHARDSON, Texas – February 10, 2016Jenny Mizutowicz, director of marketing for the Richardson Economic Development Partnership, recently earned the distinguished designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). Mizutowicz was one of only eight economic development professionals nationwide to qualify for this certification during the most recent set of qualifying examinations.

This international certification is the economic development industry’s leading industry designation, representing a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth. The rigorous CEcD exam was administered by the IEDC in late January in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Mizutowicz prepared and pursued this designation through four years of coursework and an additional three months of test preparations, and passed the rigorous examination on her first attempt.

“Earning the CEcD is one of the highest honors in our profession, and preparing for it has been one of the most challenging tasks I have undertaken,” Mizutowicz said. “This achievement not only benefits me professionally, but it will also further deepen the ability of the Richardson Economic Development Partnership to provide innovative, forward-thinking strategies, informed by global best practices, that serve the economic development needs of the vibrant Richardson community.”

The CEcD designation recognizes qualified and dedicated professionals in the economic development field and sets the standard within the profession. Candidates with at least four years of economic development industry experience must then complete professional development coursework, before passing a demanding and comprehensive three-part, two-day examination. The multi-day exam tests a practitioner’s knowledge, proficiency and judgment in the key areas of economic development, including business retention and expansion, marketing, finance, workforce development, community development, real estate, strategic planning, technology-led economic development and management.

Certified Economic Developers work with public officials, business leaders and community members to create leadership to build and maximize the economic development sector. Excellence in the economic development profession improves the well-being, quality of life and opportunities for individuals, businesses and communities.
