The dynamically growing company expects to take occupancy by fall 2019. In addition to its current Richardson location, Hedera has offices in New York and San Francisco. “We are thrilled to take this major next step and establish our global headquarters right here in Richardson,” said Mance Harmon, Hedera’s co-founder and CEO. “This is a key milestone in our journey to build the world's first mass-adopted, enterprise-grade distributed public ledger. Richardson, as the high-tech hub of Texas, a major international business gateway and home to The University of Texas at Dallas, offered us the optimal location, connectivity and intellectual capital needed for Hedera Hashgraph to thrive.” The Hedera platform, a faster and more secure alternative to blockchain, was unveiled in March 2018. In August 2018, Hedera announced it had raised $124 million from institutional and high net worth individual investors to further the development and use of the Hedera public distributed ledger platform and network. Interest in Hedera’s technology and model has continued into 2019, and earlier this month, Hedera announced the first five members of the Hedera Governing Council – Deutsche Telekom, DLA Piper, Magazine Luiza, Nomura Holdings, Inc., and Swisscom Blockchain AG – at Hedera’s first Annual Assembly in Seoul, South Korea. “It speaks volumes that Hedera Hashgraph has decided to establish its new, future-ready headquarters in Richardson,” said Bill Sproull, president and CEO of the Richardson Economic Development Partnership. “This further burnishes the Telecom Corridor® area’s long-standing reputation as a launchpad for the growth and development of the most innovative, internationally ambitious companies. It also validates our community’s continued focus on supporting tech-savvy companies from a variety of sectors who require highly skilled, STEM-educated professionals to fuel long-term success.” Hedera’s announcement follows another series of recently signed leases in Transwestern Development Co.’s (TDC®) 3400 at CityLine, a 313,000-square-foot, Class A office building, including: DXC Technology Co., leasing 100,300 square feet; AT&T Services’ advertising analytics group, Xandr, leasing 24,700 square feet; Generational Equity, leasing 30,800 square feet for its new corporate headquarters; and Common Desk, leasing 31,500 square feet in the building. “3400 at CityLine especially appeals to premier, tech-oriented companies like Hedera Hashgraph due to the building’s unique digital amenities, which helped it earn Silver WiredScore certification and become the first Wired Certified ground-up development in Texas,” said Will Paton, vice president of development at TDC. “We purposefully designed the building with outstanding connectivity features such as business-grade fiber optic internet access, abundant conduit capacity, back-up internet connections and a secure, protected telecom room in order to support tenants who rely heavily on a highly resilient, future-proofed digital infrastructure.” Hedera’s new global headquarters is also located within one of the largest transit-oriented developments in North Texas, where DART’s north-south Red Line intersects the future east-west Cotton Belt Rail Line. The CityLine development comprises 2.5 million square feet of office space, 2,500 apartment units, multiple hotels and more than 25 restaurants anchored by a Whole Foods. Sitting along the Spring Creek Trail System, the site offers tenants easy access to a 4.5-mile network of hike-and-bike trails, as well as Richardson’s 100-acre Spring Creek Nature Area. 3400 at CityLine is also easily accessed by major highways such as U.S. 75 and the President George Bush Turnpike. John Roper, CBRE senior vice president, represented the tenant in lease negotiations. Duane Henley, TDC managing director, and Nathan Durham, TDC principal, handled the negotiations on behalf of the property owners, TDC and UBS Asset Management.
