Harman International Industries Inc. agreed to buy AMX LLC for $365 million from The Duchossois Group, as the audio and entertainment company continues to expand beyond its legacy audio offerings.

AMX is a provider of enterprise control and automation systems, as well as audio and video switching and distribution services. The company was founded in 1982 and headquartered in Richardson, Texas. It employs more than 600 people across its operations in 19 locations world-wide.

Harman Chief Executive Dinesh C. Paliwal said the company is hoping to grow beyond offerings for cars and into enterprise products, adding that the AMX deal will allow Harman to provide a more complete portfolio of audio, video, lighting and automation offerings.
