Culture in the CORE 2023 Celebrates the Tastes, Sounds and Spirit of Richardson October 24, 2023 Report Richardson, Texas – The City of Richardson and the CORE District will host the second annual Culture in the CORE festival, a fun and lively event celebrating Richardson’s rich tapestry of cultures, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Downtown Richardson at Main Street Plaza. Culture in the CORE is an annual event to honor Richardson's globally oriented community and features a variety of international cuisines and vendors, as well as multicultural dance and music performances. The event is free, and attendees are encouraged to register on Eventbrite. "Richardson is home to a community of people from every corner of the globe, and Culture in the CORE is becoming another of our city’s beloved annual traditions," said Richardson Mayor Bob Dubey. "I look forward to welcoming our neighbors from across North Texas to Main Street Plaza to experience our city's diverse foods, art and entertainment." Reflecting the fact that Richardson is recognized as a “best foodies city” in Texas for its wide range of international cuisines, Culture in the CORE attendees can indulge in an array of global food and drinks throughout the day from local favorites Aboca’s Italian Grill, Bangkok on Beltline, Chiloso Mexican Bistro, Fusion Vibes, His Tea, La Casita Bakeshop, Partenope Ristorante, Tongue in Cheek Ice Cream and more. In addition, Culture in the CORE will feature diverse live music and theater from groups who will share a mix of traditional and contemporary Turkish, Indian and Mexican music as well as a special performance from the JJ Pearce Mustang Stampede and a variety of groups who will share classic Turkish songs, ancient Indian music and mariachi music. The Arathi School of Dance will demonstrate the classical Indian dance form, Bharatanatyam, and attendees will also be treated to a black-and-white movie brought to life on stage by performers from Pegasus Theater. Festival goers will also enjoy a variety of activities, including creating marbled paper, which draws from the ancient practice of water marbling originated from Central and East Asia, as well as an origami, yoyo and calligraphy exhibition presented by the Dallas Chinese Community Center. A dedicated Kids’ Zone will feature face painting, balloon art, inflatables and more, while the Bark Park will offer furry friends fresh water, toys and an obstacle course. Throughout the day, attendees can also visit with representatives from community partners and area cultural organizations, including DART, Envision Richardson, the Korean American Coalition, the Latino Cultural Center, the University of Texas at Dallas Multicultural Center and the Richardson Public Library.
