Dallas-based developer KDC has begun construction on the 186-acre site near North Central Expressway and President George Bush Turnpike in Richardson, as evidenced by a number of bulldozers turning dirt on the property.
"They are preparing the site out there for all the construction, but there's not a groundbreaking scheduled of any sort," said a spokeswoman for the development firm.
When I last spoke with CEO Steve Van Amburgh, he said he planned to begin working on the project as soon as the land deal was finalized.
State Farm Insurance will anchor the $1.5 billion project with a 1.5-million-square-foot regional hub.
Plans for the 186-acre project include several million square feet of office space, nearly 4,000 apartments, hotel, medical and retail space.
