The free event, which will kick off at noon on McKinney Street with a ribbon cutting with City officials and elected leaders, will celebrate recent improvements to Main Street, the heart of the Richardson community. Following the ribbon cutting, the family-friendly day will feature street artists, activities for all ages along Main Street and shopping at downtown Richardson’s eclectic mix of retailers as well as other area merchants from Richardson’s CORE District, which includes downtown along with the Richardson Heights, Interurban, Lockwood and China Town neighborhoods. The updated neighborhood in the heart of Richardson now provides a more pedestrian-focused setting featuring wider walkways, additional landscaping, decorative lighting, new community gathering spaces and outdoor restaurant seating. A variety of parking options will be available to festivalgoers, including designated lots at Texas Street off of Main and Polk Streets. Remote parking with free shuttle bus transportation to the event will be available at the Richardson Independent School District (RISD) campus on Greenville Avenue.
