City of Richardson Welcomes Associa Corporate Headquarters Relocation and Expansion Move Includes $55.5 Million in Local Investment Over Three Years

September 13, 2024

Richardson, Texas – Associa, a leading, tech-driven community association and property management firm, is moving its corporate headquarters from Dallas to Richardson, expanding its footprint within the city and signifying a significant investment and job creation opportunity for the local business community.

“The property management industry is characterized by innovation and we’re proud Associa has found the synergies it needs to continue to grow here in Richardson,” said Richardson Mayor Bob Dubey. “Associa’s decision underscores our reputation as a destination for technological leadership, which is supported by our access to an educated workforce, supply of community amenities, and services that work at the speed of business. These are all qualities which make us a great place for business to call home.”

The move involves the acquisition of a two-building office complex at the southwest corner of East Lookout Drive and North Plano Road, totaling more than 260,000 square feet.

To aid the project and to demonstrate its commitment to fostering local economic growth, the City has prepared a support package, including building modernization grants and fee waivers.

“This package reflects our commitment to supporting Associa’s success and to fueling investment and job growth in Richardson,” City Manager Don Magner said. “It also represents our continued, strategic focus on the commercial real estate space, and our strategy to ‘reinvent’ our legacy office campuses via intentional redevelopment, enhanced amenities, and support for tenant improvements.”

Over three years, Associa will invest $55.5 million to support the relocation, consolidation of 500 existing employees, and creation of 250 new jobs within Richardson. The investment also includes real estate purchases, building enhancements, and expenses for furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

“After an extensive search and careful consideration, we are excited about our decision to join this community as the home of our new global headquarters,” said Associa Vice President of Corporate Real Estate Clint Wallis. “The city of Richardson offers a dynamic business environment, robust infrastructure, and a vibrant community that aligns perfectly with our company's values and vision for the future. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City officials, community leaders, and residents of

Richardson for their invaluable support.”

Associa plans to move into its new HQ facility during the first quarter of next year, after completing a series of site improvements. Its new campus will host up to 1,000 employees.

The City of Richardson’s Economic Development Department encourages all businesses considering expansion or relocation to submit applications for various incentives. These incentives include building modernization grants, building and tenant improvement grants, permit fee waivers, and job creation grants, among other economic development tools designed to attract investment and promote community revitalization. Incentives are available to entities committing to significant capital investments, noteworthy job retention or creation and/or long-term lease agreements. Each application is evaluated on its own merits to ensure it aligns with Richardson’s goals of fostering economic growth and enhancing the community's competitiveness.
