Annual EDGE Awards set Nov. 17 October 12, 2021 Report The Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP), Richardson Chamber of Commerce and Richardson Rotary Clubs will present the 39th Annual Economic Development, Growth and Expansion (EDGE) Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 7:30-9:30 am at HEXA Event Center. The event is sponsored by Texas Bank and Trust, GEICO, Bland Garvey, Alliance Architects, Methodist Richardson Medical Center, Logotology, Halff Associates and the City of Richardson. The awards recognize Richardson-based businesses and projects in nine different categories: Commercial Real Estate Project Award: Given to a Richardson real estate project in office, industrial, retail, TOD, or mixed-use development which demonstrates a positive new vitality for the city and has a strong impact on Richardson’s commercial real estate sector. Project must be completed or under construction as of the date of nomination. Community Involvement Award: Given to a business which has consistently, over a number of years, supported and/or contributed financial resources and personal time to Richardson-specific charitable, educational, civic and social organizations and causes. Please include examples. Entrepreneurship Award: Given to a Richardson company, individual or organization which exemplifies entrepreneurship. Environmental Award: Given to a business or organization for a sustainable and “green” initiative(s) which are effective and/or innovative and/or can be replicated. International Business Award: Given to a foreign-owned or ethnic business in Richardson which has given significant support and/or provided significant economic investments in the community or job creation. Newcomer Business Award: Given to a business which has located in Richardson since January 1, 2020, and has had a significant impact on the community either through economic investments, community visibility and support or other unique contribution. Community Service Award: Given to a public sector or non-profit entity, educational institution or unit thereof (may be Richardson-based or not), or an individual or individuals for its/their impact and distinguished service to the businesses and citizens of Richardson or as evidenced by a recent achievement milestone. Redevelopment Award: Given to a developer, a property or business owner who redevelops their property, adding significant value, improving the use of the space/site and thereby enhancing both taxable value and a greater quality to our community Richardson Loyalty Award: Given to a Richardson business for its longevity in Richardson (minimum of 10 years) or for renewing its commitment to a Richardson presence when there was a choice to move. The awards program will feature video interviews with the recipients as well as celebrate an “Education Hero” sponsored by the Chamber’s Education and Workforce Committee.
