A North Dallas insurance company is joining the move to Richardson’s Telecom Corridor.

American Contractors Insurance Group’s new office will be in the same neighborhood where State Farm Insurance recently rented more than 600,000 square feet of office space.

ACIG’s 27,000-square-foot head office will be in the Tower 2600 office building on North Central Expressway near Renner Road.

The nine-story office tower was built in 2000 and is owned by a partnership headed by real estate investor Champion Partners.

“We anticipate the move will be completed no later than Oct. 1,” ACIG CEO Mike O’Neill said Wednesday in an email.

O’Neill said the company’s current offices since 1987 have been in the Four Forest Plaza tower on Merit Drive near Forest Lane and North Central Expressway in Dallas.

ACIG has been in business since 1981 and writes insurance policies and provides related services to the construction industry.

John Beach with Jackson Cooksey represented the insurance company in its negotiations for the new office space. Chuck Sellers and Jeff Wood with Peloton Commercial Real Estate market the Tower 2600 building.

With the new lease, only about 6,000 square feet of empty space is left in the building.

Other office tenants in the building include Safety-Kleen Services Inc. and AT&T.

Champion Partners bought the property in 2010.

The Telecom Corridor has been one of North Texas’ busiest office markets during the last year. Office occupancies in the area rose by more than 500,000 square feet last year. Other large deals are pending in the area.
